View from my Room

One of the beauties of the UK is the changing of the seasons.... This is the view of the river that runs directly behind my dormitory...To those who I told I saw ducks...they were actually geese! (you can see I am challenged in that department!) See the pictures of the baby goslings.

This is the view directly from my window...notice the tree in Autumn (when I first arrived in September) and the Winter view taken in early December. You will also notice that it is not as sunny. These experiences will stay with me for a lifetime. Look out for the Spring shot!

Chevening friends

All the Chevening Scholars attending the UEA were fetted by the British Council at a Reception at the swanky Devere Arms Hotel in Cambridge on November 19, 2007. It was a good occasion where we met the British Council Staff and other scholars attending Universities in the East of England. Here is a photo of all the UEA scholars. We have people from all over the world, ... Mozambique, Angola, India, China, Tanzania, Columbia, Mexico to name a few... this exerience is really something!!

My Jamaican Chevening crew! We were fetted by the Jamaican High Commissioner in London on December 7,2007. In picture..L-R Anneke, Me, Marcus & Adenikie. Janielle was stuck in Swansea (oops!) and Eddie and Fritz were unavailable. These guys really help me to survive from day to day. And by the way the Jamaican food did taste good too!!.... was great to have some sorrel to drink.

CHURCH LIFE

After my first Sabbath of staying in my room because I did not know where the church was I found it! And I have not missed a Sabbath since. Going to this place is like the highlight of my week. There are only about 55 members which means about 25 people on average attend each Saturday. They are loving folk though, and I have gotten involved. See me in my Bandana outfit representing Jamaica on their first 'Multicultural Day' ....we were singing 'Solas Market and Evening Time" Louise Bennett woulda proud a wi!

Norwich Life- The day it "snowed"!

December 11, 2007: That was the day that frost came down... for me that was snow! I have not seen it since... but I don't need to; I am never in doubt that it is winter... it is always so cold!
These are views from my window and on the way to campus centre....This is the life indeed! (A'int it!)

Christmas in Norwich, East Anglia

I live on the University of East Anglia campus in the city of Norwich. Every year at Christmas, the city council puts on ice sculptures as a 'treasure hunt' around the city. I think that it is a ploy to make people walk! ( they really don't need to, english people walk or bicycle a lot!!) Here are some of the sculptures my Tanzanian friend (Naima Besta) and I took last Sunday.... enjoy!

Me with the judge and his gavel... had to be a lawyer , right?
